Tattoo removal with Picolaser
At Reborn Avenue in Helsingborg, we offer tattoo removal with Picolaser – a modern and effective method for those who want to reduce or completely remove unwanted tattoos. Picolaser differs from older techniques through its ultra-short pulses in picoseconds, which means that the laser works with extreme precision without damaging the surrounding skin.
The treatment works by using the laser's energy to break up the pigment into small particles that the body then naturally transports away via the lymphatic system. Thanks to the powerful technology, fewer treatments are often required and the results are both smoother and more complete compared to traditional laser types.
At Reborn Avenue, we use three different wavelengths to be able to treat a wide range of tattoo colors:
1064 nm – used to treat dark colors such as black and dark blue
532 nm – effective against red, orange, yellow and pink pigments
650 nm – particularly targets green and turquoise colors, which are often difficult to treat with other wavelengths
Every tattoo is unique and is affected by factors such as ink type, color depth, skin type and age of tattoo. That's why we always tailor the treatment plan to your skin and your tattoo, to achieve the best possible results with minimal risk of scarring.

Tattoo removal with Picolaser - Questions & Answers
How does Picolaser work for tattoo removal?
The picolaser's ultra-short pulses hit the tattoo pigment with extremely high pressure. The pigment is blasted into microscopic particles that the body then breaks down and transports away via the lymphatic system.
How many treatments are needed to remove a tattoo?
The number of treatments varies depending on the color, amount, location, and age of the tattoo. On average, 4–10 treatments or more are required to completely remove a tattoo.
How often can the treatment be done?
We recommend a 6–8 week interval between treatments. This gives the skin time to recover and the body's lymphatic system the opportunity to clear away the broken-down pigment particles.
Does the treatment hurt?
The treatment may feel like small, prickly pulses of heat. Local anesthesia can be applied if necessary to make the experience more comfortable, but some pain may still be experienced depending on the area and your pain threshold.
What happens to the skin after the treatment?
After the treatment, the laser light is converted into heat, which breaks down the pigment. The body then starts its natural cleansing process. Redness, swelling or a slight crust is common and usually heals within a few days.
What does the skin look like after the treatment?
After a Picolaser treatment, the skin may become red, swollen and feel warm, which is a normal reaction. A light crust often forms and falls off within 7–10 days. For larger tattoos, or tattoos with a lot of color and dense pigments, the skin may react more strongly. In some cases, small blisters may appear, which is the body's way of dealing with the intense heat from the laser. This is also normal but may mean that healing takes a little longer. It is important not to scratch, pick or tear the area during the healing phase - this reduces the risk of scarring and ensures a better result.
Will the tattoo disappear completely?
Many tattoos can be removed completely, especially black and dark colors. Light colors like yellow and turquoise can be more difficult to treat, but will fade significantly. The result depends on the type of pigment and the body's ability to transport the ink away.
Can colored tattoos be removed?
Yes, we work with three different wavelengths – 1064 nm, 532 nm and 650 nm – to treat a wide range of colours, including red, blue, green, yellow and black.
Can a new tattoo be removed?
No, the tattoo should be at least 6 months old before we begin treatment. This is to give the skin time to heal properly and the ink time to settle into the skin stably.
Are there any risks?
When the treatment is performed correctly by a trained specialist, the risks are small. However, there is a small risk of temporary pigmentation changes, especially for darker skin types.
Is there anything I should consider before the treatment?
Yes, the skin should be completely healthy and free from sunburn or irritation. Avoid applying creams, oils or sunless tanning to the area before treatment. Always inform us if you are taking any medications, especially blood thinners or medications that make the skin sensitive to light.
How should I care for my skin after the treatment?
After a Picolaser treatment, it is important to keep the area clean and dry. To relieve heat and swelling, you can cool the skin with an ice pack and lubricate the area with aloe vera lotion for the first 1–2 days. Avoid picking or tearing, especially if blisters or crusting develop. If blisters burst, clean gently with Alsol solution and please cover the area with gauze to protect the skin during the sensitive phase.
To reduce the risk of scarring, you can also use Mediscar on the treated area after the skin has started to heal.
Refrain from exercise, swimming, saunas and other sweaty activities for at least 48 hours, and avoid direct sun exposure in at least 4 weeks. When outdoors, always wear sunscreen with SPF 50 be used. Proper aftercare is crucial for both healing and results.
Are there any contraindications for tattoo removal with Picolaser?
The treatment is not suitable for those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have an ongoing skin infection, active herpes or are severely sunburned. We also do not treat recent tattoos – they should be at least 6 months old. An individual assessment is always made to ensure that your skin is ready for the treatment.
